Northern Cape Provincial Speakers Forum

The Northern Cape Provincial Speakers Forum is a duly constituted structure that consists of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Provincial Legislature, MEC of COGSTA, The Speakers Forum will be attended by the following political principals inclusive of the all Districts and Local Municipal Speakers and the Chairperson of SALGA in the province. The Speakers Forum will be held in the Namakwa district, Port Nolloth on the 28 November 2022.

The Speaker of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature is the Chairperson of the Provincial Speakers Forum. The Provincial Speakers Forum sets a political direction, enhances and promote the doctrine of separation of powers between the Legislature, Executive and Municipalities in the province, promotes public participation, public education and aims to strengthen oversight at municipal level.

The Provincial Speakers Forum also draws up the policy framework, which serves to guide Speakers in conducting oversight and facilitating public participation in the local sphere. The Provincial Speakers forum is chaired by Speaker N Klaaste, The main objective of the Speakers Provincial Forum is as a forum is to promote the doctrine of separation of powers between the Legislature, Executive and Municipalities in the Northern Cape; to share best practice and challenges, as well as to promote public participation and public education of Legislative processes and strengthening oversight at municipal level.
